Today we pause to pay tribute to the memory of William White. He was called to eternal peace and rest on Wednesday November 23, 2022, at Friends of Caroline Hospice Hospital in Ridgeland, South Carolina.
William is the fifth child of eight borne to the late Robert L. and the late Annie Jewel (Frazier) White.  He attended and graduated from Coppinville High School, where he played in the band for four years.  At an early age William joined Friendship Baptist Church now known as Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.  He served on the usher board, was a Sunday School teacher, and sang in the choir.

After leaving Alabama, he relocated to Roxbury, Massachusetts. While in living in Massachusetts, William holds the honor of being the First African American Manager of Brigham’s Ice Cream Shoppe Mattapan Square.  He also was the first African American driver of the Senior Citizen bus under the then leadership of Boston Mayor Kevin White.

Always striving to do more, he moved to Florida where for several years he was the traveling Manager of the Marlin’s baseball team.  Still willing to serve, he drove school bus and worked as a substitute teacher. Retiring after he began to lose his eyesight.

Left to cherish his fond memories are his siblings, Annie Will Thompson of Enterprise, Alabama; Willie James (Margean) White of Walterboro, South Carolina; Mary White of Roxbury, Massachusetts; Unia V. Bizzle of Dorchester Heights, Massachusetts; George (Loice) White of Randolph, Massachusetts; and Patricia (Jimmy) Quicksey of Hinesville, Georgia.  Sisters in- Law Joyce White of Mattapan, Massachusetts, and Pearlie Mae White of Coral City, Florida. Granddaughters Princess Pratt of Miami, Florida and Shcardesca Pratt of Waynesboro, Georgia.
