Our Lord of Mercy, in his infinite wisdom, has seen fit to call from labor our beloved father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend Warren Bernard Smith who departed this life on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at his home in New Brockton, Alabama. Warren was born on January 13, 1958 to Varidee Higgins Smith and Johnny Frank Smith. After high school, he attended and graduated from Ozark Aviation Technical College with a certificate in welding. Warren’s welding career included working with various companies, including on oil rigs and shipyards (Pascagoula, MS and New Orleans (LA); GE Railroad (Dothan, AL); and Sikorsky Air Aviation (Troy, AL). He served as a multichannel systems operator with the 67th Signal Battalion of the US Army.
In 1987, Warren married Glenda Liptrot and to this union three children were born. He leaves in mourning his three daughters, Marquise Strickland (Greg), Marshell Smith, and Marcia Smith as well as his sisters Josephine Smith and Delphine Smith Williams (John) and his brother Chester Higgins (Betsy) along with his nephews Chester Damani Higgins III and Frenshaun Smith, and his nieces Nataki Higgins Montgomery, Carmen Williams and Miya Williams, and a host of other relatives and friends. He also leaves in mourning Rose Mack, his devoted fiancee.
He joined the Springfield Baptist Church at an early age and was a lifelong member and served in the choir. He had a willing spirit and was very active in the church. He held a very strong faith in God.
He never met a stranger. He will be dearly missed.
