In Loving Memory of Vera Lee Moon, aged 77, who passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024. Vera was born on September 17, 1946 in Enterprise, AL to the late Ruthie Mae Williams and Henry J. Hunter. She was a dedicated mother, sister, aunt and grandmother who loved her family unconditionally.
Ms. Moon was preceded in death by her parents Ruthie Mae Williams and Henry J. Hunter, her brothers James Williams, Johnny “Pip” Williams, Ricky Williams, Henry J. Hunter Jr., Lawrence Hunter, Terry Hunter, and Gregory Hunter, and sisters Mary Helen Rowson and Barbara Ann Hunter and one nephew, Donald “Che” Burton.
Vera was a loving mother to Tiffany Moon, Samie (Rosanne) Moon, a caring foster mother of Mike (Julie) Chism. She was a loving grandmother of seven: Jamerian Moon, Shanequia (Nicholas) Ellis, Samona Moon, Tyshiaunna Moon, Alexis Moon, Samyria Moon, and Samie Moon Jr. and great grandmother of four: Javion Moon, Arianah Scott, Kendreze Saffold Jr, and Narielle Moon.
She leaves an aunt Fannie Lou Blackmon, seven brothers Freddie (Glennette) Williams, Henry Wilson, Willie Hunter, Jeffrey Hunter, Phillip Hunter, Hilary (Jennifer) Hunter, Tyrone (Emeldor) Hunter and five sisters Lisa Williams, Sanya (Anthony) Collier, Tanya Wilson, Gladys (Ivery) Washington, and Shelly Slaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Vera was a devoted member of St. Beulah Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years where she served as an usher and choir member in the Voices Of Beulah Gospel Choir. She worked at the Dining Facility on Fort Rucker as a Food Service Worker for 42 years.
Vera’s legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness, love, wisdom, and compassion. She will be fondly remembered for her love for the Lord, her passion for shopping, and her one of her famous nicknames “Dr. Moon.” She was there with all of us during the delivery of our babies. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
