Shelma Jean Knox (78) peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord early on May 18, 2024, with her daughter by her side in Clarksville, Tennessee. Shelma was born September 7, 1945, in Coffee County, Alabama, to the late Lemon and Nancy Rodgers.
Shelma Knox accepted the Lord early in life and served the Lord with her entire being until her death. She is most known for her singing under the anointing of God, but she was also Co-pastor of New Life Christian Fellowship in Brudridge, Alabama, alongside the Late Pastor Wilford Knox for 27 years. If you visited her once her illness progressed, you would find Shelma planning a Church Service or Dinner for the Church. She would even give a sermon during those times. She was always planning events even though that time wasn't active. When she moved to Tennessee, she was still spreading God's word and praying for the other residents in the Memory Care facility.
Shelma's life was a testament to her love for people and unwavering commitment to helping others. Her family was her pride and joy, and she poured her heart into caring for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning fruits and vegetables, and sewing. Her dedication to the Lord was evident in her various roles within the church, where she wholeheartedly praised and served God. Her children, who hold her in the highest regard, call her Blessed!
Shelma Knox was married to the Late Wilford Knox for 54 years. Through their love, they had three children: Baby Knox (stillborn), Lataya(Larry) Dixon of Clarksville, TN, and Wilford Donell(Carmen) Knox of Kaiserslautern, Germany. She also loved and was very proud of five beautiful, precious granddaughters: Aghnis Dixon, Abigail Dixon, and Annah Dixon of Clarksville, TN, Maya Knox, and Lyana Knox of Kaiserslautern, Germany.
She was a sister to Moses Rodgers, Peggy Rodgers, JC (Juanita) Rodgers, and Adam Rodgers, all from Elba, AL. Her sisters in love are Inez Fincher of Atlanta, GA, Cythnia (Michael) Echols of Conyers, GA, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Mattie Rodgers, Joseph Rodgers, Estella Lawerence, and Lady Bryd Rodgers.
