Mr. Shelly Cunningham, of Chancellor, Alabama, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on October 18, 1955, in Kinston, Alabama, Shelly was the son of the late Leola Cunningham and the late Lee “Skeet” Havard Reeves.
Shelly was a hardworking man who never met a task he could not tackle. Known as a true jack of many trades, he was gifted with his hands and took pride in the work he did throughout his life. More than anything, Shelly will be remembered for his contagious laugh, free spirit, and the joy he brought to those around him. He lived life in his own way, treasured simple moments, and never failed to leave an impression on those who knew and loved him.
Shelly believed in living life to the fullest and treasured the people who meant the most to him. He valued laughter, companionship, and the simple moments shared with family and friends, leaving behind memories that will be cherished for years to come.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved lifelong companion and devoted partner Betty Sumo; his children, Melissa Sheree Holloway and Phillip Lavell Soles; his sister; Augusta Tillis of Opp; 11 grandkids; 3 great grandkids; and numerous extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Lashae Cunningham; his brothers, Donnie Cunningham and Bobby Cunningham; granddaughter Quantazhia Scheriece Smith, and his parents, Leola Cunningham and Lee “Skeet” Havard Reeves.
Though his earthly journey has ended, the family finds comfort in knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Shelly’s laughter, kindness, and free spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved him.
