August 30, 2008 ~ August 9, 2023 (age 14) 14 Years Old

Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shanaiya, a beloved daughter, sister, and friend. Known for her kind-hearted nature, soft-spoken demeanor, and unwavering friendliness,   Naiya touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born on August 30th 2008, Shanaiya was a shining example of determination and academic         excellence. With a strong commitment to her studies, she consistently earned A's and B's,           showcasing her dedication and intellectual prowess.

Her passion for music and the arts was evident through her involvement in the Elba Marching Tiger Band, where she showcased her talent as a trombone player. She also had a deep appreciation for the performing arts, as evidenced by her love for theater class. Naiya's creative spirit and artistic pursuits enriched the lives of those around her.

But beyond her achievements, Shanaiya had the courage to be true to herself. In a world that often demands conformity, she fearlessly embraced her identity, coming out to her family as someone who fell in love with her best friend Natalia. Her relationship with her girlfriend Natt was a testament to the beauty of love and acceptance.

She is preceded in death by her grandmother Tammy Strickland, great grandmother Hazel Ennis, great grand father Paul Joe Bryant, and Linda Bryant.

She leaves to cherish her memoires a loving sister: Aaliyah Williams, mother and  father: Carmeisha  and Cory Williams; uncle: Marcus Caldwell; loving grand parents: Paul and Lucy Green.
Shanaiya's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of kindness, determination, and authenticity will continue to inspire us all.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in honor of Shanaiya Alexis's compassionate spirit and her enduring impact on the world.
May she rest in peace, and may her light continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
