Samuel Whitehurst Obituary

Samuel Farrand Whitehurst departed this life on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. He was born on July 6, 1960, in Enterprise, Alabama to Samuel Whitehurst and Marthan Tucker Whitehurst. He resided in Gadsden, AL until his death.

Most who knew Farrand called him “Ran”.  Some called him “Buster”. Others called him “Snuke”. He joined Friendship Baptist Church, Enterprise, Alabama, as a child and attended services while growing up on a regular basis.  He was a 1979 graduate of Enterprise High School.  He also continued his education at Enterprise State Junior College.

Farrand had a Strong Work Ethic.  He thrusted his energies into a technical career as a presser at Sessions Dry Cleaners, Enterprise, Alabama at the young age of twelve.  Years later his expertise followed him to Pippin Dry Cleaners, in Gadsden, Alabama.

Farrand was a Historian at Heart, particularly, concerning our ancestry.  He was able to answer most inquiries concerning the lineage of the family and others in the community.  He knew the connection.  Also his fascination with the history of the Kennedy family was absolutely astounding.

Farrand was a Natural Comedian, generating laughter from all who surrounded him.  There was never a dull moment while you were in his presence.  Interacting with Farrand was synonymous with good times and great fun.

Farrand had a Spirit of Humbleness.  He treated everybody with importance and kindness.  He greeted you with a smile! Always happy to see you! Wonderful Conversationalist! He always ended our family dialogues with these classic words, “I Love You.”

Farrand was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Denice Whitehurst. He leaves to cherish his memories: his Mother and Father, Samuel Whitehurst and Marthan Tucker Whitehurst; two sisters, Muriel L. Scott and Linda Michelle Goosby; one brother, Kevin K, Whitehurst; two nieces, Monica L. Reynolds (Eric) and Jacquelyn M. Goosby Johnson (Ted); one nephew, Gregory D. Goosby Jr; two great nephews, Kaleb I. Reynolds and Aiden I, Goosby; one great niece, Rosemary Goosby Crawford and a host of other relatives and friends.
