Sister Ruby “Gail” Scott was born to the late Samuel Lee and Reba Scott on March 14, 1950 in Coffee County Alabama. Ruby graduated from Warren Smith High School in 1967. After high school, she attended the Job Corps Center of St. Louis, Missouri where she earned her Certificate in Cosmetology. She worked in the Food Industry for a number of years and later worked as a Home Health Sitter for various elderly patients. Sister Gail loved people and was always known for helping others. Whether it was through the act of cooking a home cooked meal, providing childcare in her home, or being a listening ear, she was always available to help in any way needed.
At an early age Gail accepted Christ and placed her membership at the Pea River Missionary Baptist Church in New Brockton, Alabama under the leadership of the late Rev. F.D. Belcher, Rev. Henry Shy, Pastor Cedric Gibson, and currently Minister Judson Edge. Gail, was a dedicated and faithful member who served for many years in various positions to include; The Ladies Aid Society, The Usher Board, Choir, Church Secretary, Kitchen Contact Person and any other role where help was needed. She loved Pea River with her heart and was a faithful member until she was called to her Eternal home on Friday, December 20, 2019.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Lee and Reba Scott, her two brothers Samuel Lee Scott II and Ronnie Scott, and lastly her sister Cynthia D. Collier.
Sister Gail leaves to cherish her memory; two daughters; Felecia Renee Brown of Belton, TX, and Shannon Shawnay Scott of Peachtree Conyers, GA, one uncle; Milford Sistrunk of Houston, TX, three grandchildren; Deja Jalon Evelyn-Gail Brown, Christopher Everett Brown Jr, and Lyric Saimar Scott, one great grandson; Taveres S. Burns Jr., two nephews; Samuel Lee Scott III and Coston Z.P. Collier, four nieces; Bridgett Z. Martin (Jeffrey), LaKenya Trout (Joel), Cynthia F.D. Scott, and Constance S.G. Collier, and a host of great nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. She also leaves to cherish her brother in-law of over 30 plus years Coston Collier, LaTarsha Cole who she considered another daughter, and a special and dear friend whom she considered a sister, Jenell Oliver.
