Ruby Jewell Grayer passed away on November 18, 2024, at 4:00 a.m. after an emergency visit to Medical Center Enterprise.
Known as “Ruby Jewell” or “Rube”, is the daughter of the late Virgie Lee Rucker and the late Cliff Ward, both of Enterprise, Alabama. She is the wife of the late Earnest Grayer, Sr. also of Enterprise. During her childhood and early adult life, she joined and attended St. Beulah Baptist Church on South Carroll Street in Enterprise. Later in her adult life she joined and became a family member of Johns Chapel AME Church. Where she was an active participant in the Adult Choir, which she really enjoyed. Ruby worked many years and retired as the head custodian at Pinedale Elementary School within the Enterprise City School System.
Ruby’s siblings are the late A.C. Ward, the late Earthie Lee “Judy” Flowers, and Cozzie Lenori of Enterprise. She is the mother of eight children: the late Allen Jerome Moore, “Bear”; the late Willie Frank Grayer, “Snookie”; Ernest Grayer, Jr., aka Pewee”; Charles Edward Turner, “Tudy”; Venus Grayer, Willie Frank Ward, “Billy Ray”; Finderryck Grayer, and Annie Strozier, “Ann”.
Ruby Jewell is leaving behind to cherish her memories many and much-loved grand and great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
