Robert James Hudson passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Southeast Health in Dothan, Alabama. Robert was born on April 13, 1936, in Selma, Alabama. He later moved to Birmingham where he attended Hudson High School and graduated in 1954. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for eight years from 1955 to 1963. Eight months after getting out of the Air Force, Robert enlisted in the Army in 1964. In 1968, while stationed at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia, he met Gloria. They married on February 17, 1973. Robert retired from the Army in 1978 after almost 23 years of service. After retiring from service, Robert had a long career as a platform instructor for the United States Army at Fort Rucker, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ida Mae Mooney, father James Hudson and sister, Mary Alice Parker. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria, daughter, Malaika (Cory), son, Robert (Jillian), Robert O., granddaughters Amarah, Makayla and Leah, and siblings, Jay Carmichael (Marva), Nathan Mooney, Cleveland Mooney, and Ida Wright (Erskine). Left to mourn this loss is a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
