Robert Joseph Caron

The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. (Psalms 90:10)

Surrounded by and with the love of his family, Robert Joseph “Bob” Caron, 70, moved from his earthly home to his heavenly home on June 2, 2026.

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise. (Proverbs 11:30) 

Born in 1956 and born again on October 29, 1978 at 7:40 PM, Bob lived a life marked by wisdom, courage, conviction and his ability of leading others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. 

Throughout his life, he was known for his love of the Lord Jesus Christ and was a staunch defender of His Book, the King James Bible. He also had a deep appreciation of Dr. Peter S. Ruckman for all he had learned through his ministry. 

Known best for his sharp wit and quick sense of humor, Bob found great joy in laughing and being with family and friends. When each one of our children was born, he wasted no time in happily telling them, "If you're going to be a Caron, you better learn to laugh."
One quote of his was, “I’m an introvert, but I can fake being an extrovert,” and judging by the innumerable amount of lives he touched, he did it exceedingly well. 

He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren playing catch football, Frisbee, watching movies together and enjoying gospel bluegrass music with them. His favorite group, comprised of seven of his own children, was Broken Strings Bluegrass Band. 

In addition, he, with his wife, enjoyed traveling to new places and going on frequent “dates” that consisted of long drives through the rural countryside of southeast Alabama while sharing many cheeseburgers and memorable conversations in the car.

During his years in the military, Bob was a paratrooper, serving his country honorably as an NCO in the US Army’s 9th Infantry Division Long Range Surveillance unit. 
Later, as a licensed aircraft mechanic, he pulled maintenance on the Hughes TH-55 Osage, the Bell H-13 Sioux, the Bell UH-1 Iroquois (Huey), the Bell AH-1 Cobra, the Sikorsky UH-60 Blackhawk, the Boeing AH-64 Apache, the Boeing CH-47 Chinook, the Bell OH-58 Kiowa, the Bell TH-67 Creek and more. He also worked as a Gas Turbine Engine Technician while in the Middle East.

Those who knew him will remember him for his insatiable hunger to know more and more about the treasures contained within the Holy Bible. It was not unusual to see him deep in study with a Bible open on his lap or his desk and always ready to answer questions or just “talk Bible”. 

At the time of his passing he was enrolled as a correspondence student at Asheville Baptist Institute (ashevillebaptistinstitute.com) in Asheville, North Carolina and was truly grateful for the knowledge gained from the instructors there. 

Favorite things his children remember hearing him say quite often is “Smell that? That’s my favorite new Bible smell.” “Line upon line, precept upon precept…” “What does the Book say?” and most importantly, “That Book is going to be what gives you the answers. It’s gotta be in that Book.”

One of his favorite verse selections was Psalms 12:6-7. The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. 

His final hours were spent listening to gospel bluegrass songs about going home. The very last Bible verse he ever heard was said to him by his wife as they held each other a few hours before he went to glory. 
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. (Isaiah 26:3) 
With that, he laid his head back on the pillow, closed his eyes and waited on the Lord.

Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. (Proverbs 5:18) 
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. (Psalms 127:4) 

Married in 1984, Bob is survived by his wife/best friend of over 41 years and their nine children and their spouses. He also had 24 grandchildren that will greatly miss their Papaw, with grandchild #25 that he was hoping to meet in August 2026.

He is also survived by one brother and one sister. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother, and his stepfather.

At the decedent’s request, there was no formal service or gathering.

Though deeply missed, Bob's kindness, integrity, friendship and memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
