Dora was born to Gent and Cleria Corbitt on October 12, 1939. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and attended New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she joyfully walked to church as a child - - every Sunday. She was born first of “five little girls” - - her sisters whom she loved with all her heart: Margaret Corbitt, Nina King, Aggie Tidwell and Shelby Spivey. Dora was married to Willie “Jack” Franklin and the LORD gave them ten children: Tyrone Corbitt, Eddie Corbitt, Jeanette Williamson, Sandra Franklin, Aaron Franklin, Kelvin Franklin, Derrick Franklin, Rita Franklin, Clifford Franklin and La Tonia Lee.. With her “Charge to Keep and a GOD to Glorify” motto, she has been bringing in the sheaves as she discipled a multitude of young ministers, preachers, teachers, adults and children alike sharing the Word of GOD with kindness, purpose and power over her lifetime. After serving at numerous churches and ministries in Chicago, IL and Enterprise, AL, she eventually returned to her beloved New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she continued to serve as assistant pastor, mother of the church and trustee until the LORD called her home. We rejoice with Heaven!!!
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy LORD.”
