Mrs. Mittie B. Reid Hutcherson of Enterprise, Alabama departed this life Tuesday, July 26, 2022
at her home after a period of declining health. She was born on March 8, 1950 to the late Jessie
Pearl Brown Reid and Louie Council of Enterprise, Alabama. She is oldest of seven children.
Mittie confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Union Grove Missionary Baptist
Church, Bellwood Alabama and was baptized under the administration of Pastor Snell. She was a
loyal and dedicated member who assisted in various ministries of the church to include singing in the
choir. She later united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Enterprise, Alabama where she continued
to serve faithfully as a dedicated and loyal member until her death.
Mittie was educated in the Enterprise Public School System and Graduated from
Coppinsville High School class of 1968. She was united in Holy Matrimony on August 18, 1972
to Rev. Johnny James Hutcherson of Enterprise, AL. To this union there were four children.
Mittie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who had a genuine love for her
family. She was a person who was always available to share an encouraging word and
demonstrate strong unyielding support not only to her family but to all who knew her. A very
dependable person who would perform any task asked of her within her ability to do so. She was a
talented gospel singer who willingly shared her gift with the faith community. Additionally,
in her earlier years, singed with two gospel groups, the Trebilettes and the Gospel Controllers.
She was employed with Fort Rucker Dining Facility as a food service worker,
Walmart Supercenter as a sales associate, and Enterprise City School System food service
department. Mittie was a gifted cook who enjoyed serving others. As an Entrepreneur, she
opened a restaurant in Geneva County called “Mittie B’s Restaurant.” Her motto was “no one
leaves hungry,” Additionally she provided members of community with bake goods such as
cakes and pies, as well as, catering services.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jessie Pearl Brown Reid; her step father Bobby Dean
Reid, and her biological father, Louie Council; and three infant brothers who died shortly after
birth, Benjamin, Jessie, and James.
Leaving to cherish her memories: her devoted husband Rev. Johnny James Hutcherson; her son,
Timothy Reid (Donyel-fiance) of Enterprise, AL; her three daughters, Angela Townsend of
Enterprise, AL, Vivian Hutcherson Goode of Dothan, AL, and Jacqueline Hutcherson-Harvey
(Pierre) of Dothan, AL; Eleven Grandchildren, Shanqunita Townsend, Alexis Franklin,
Lawrence Franklin, Jr., Shekinah Goode Ogbonnaya, Madison Goode, James Hutcherson,
Pierre Harvey, Jr., Malachi Harvey, and Makaylah Harvey; seven Great Grandchildren;
Four brothers , Bobby Dean Reid, Jr. (Queen) of Titusville, FL, Mickey T. Reid (Laraine) of
Sumpter, SC, John A. Reid (Joyce) of Chesterfield, VA, Robert E. Reid (Carolyn) of Orlando,
FL; two sisters, Drucie Marie Reid of Enterprise, AL, Robin Rená Williams (Trevor) of
Washington State, On her father’s side: one half-brother, Kenny Council; five half-sisters,
three sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law Penny Council, Carol Council, Dorothy Council, Linda
Council, and Patricia Council; Devoted Uncle, Willie Frank Brown (Jean) of Enterprise,
AL; devoted friend and neighbor, Clara Boley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other
relatives and friends
