Born October 29,1927 to the late Benjamin Franklin Johnson (Preacher Pryor) and Beulah Mae Griffin Johnson. She was cherished and adored by all who came in contact with her. Although she only had one child, she was the mother to many of all races. She worked for many years for the Brown and Jackie Bryars who adopted her into their family.
In the early morning of July 23rd, 2020, God sent his angels for Mattie to bring her home. Jesus said: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. In my Father’s house are many mansions (or dwelling places). I go to prepare a place for you, so that where I am, there you may be also.” Mattie is enjoying her mansion.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories a loving son, Johnie F. Johnson (Audrey) of San Antonio, Texas; two granddaughters, Jervay Johnson of Upper Marboro, MD; Cheryl Gray-Smith of San Antonio, TX; two grandsons, Jay Williams (Wanda) of Germany; Daniel Williams(Emma) of Weatherford, Oklahoma. A beloved cousin whom she dubbed ‘The daughter I never had”, Eunice Hamilton of Enterprise, Alabama and her other “son” Jimmy Boykins (Lois) of Enterprise, Alabama
She will be missed by a host of great-grands, cousins and other relatives and friends.
