Maple Nelson Obituary

 

Maple Colston Nelson was born December 26, 1939 to the late Johnnie and Carrie Colston in Crenshaw County, Alabama. On November 17, 2021, at the age of 81, Maple departed her earthly body and made a transition to her final resting place. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Nelson, Jr., parents, Johnnie and Carrie Colston, sister, Gwendolyn Mount and brother, Isiac Colston

 

At an early age, Maple joined Mulberry Baptist Church.  After moving to Opp, Alabama, she joined and remained a faithful member to Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church.  June 1958, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Lawrence Nelson Jr. of Opp, Alabama. To their union, they were blessed with seven children.

 

Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of those who loved her.  Her five sons: John (Christina) Nelson, Calvin (Theresa) Nelson both of Elba, Alabama, Tim (Crystal) Nelson, Terron Nelson and Jeighson Nelson all of Opp, Alabama; two daughters: Marion Nelson Craig and Wonda Nelson Phillips both of Opp, Alabama; three sisters: Alice Colston White, Marion Colston, and Jeanette Colston Merrills all of Opp, Alabama; two sisters-in-law: Mattie M. Huffman of Riverview, Florida and Linda Huffman of Sarasota, Florida; one brother-in-law: Clarence Huffman of Sarasota, Florida; grandchildren: Elder Johnathan Lockett, Nicholas (Shai) Nelson both of Elba, Alabama, Isaac Nelson of Panama City, Florida,  Treas-Nelson Barker of Honolulu, Hawaii, Quinton Caldwell of Enterprise,  Lauren Craig of Andalusia, Alabama, Ashton Nelson, Lillian Nelson, Peyton Nelson, Terrin Denson, Chelsea Stoudemire all of Opp, Alabama, Jon’Thomas Austin of Atlanta, Georgia, Amiyah Wilson and Breanna Wilson both of Opp, Alabama; great grandchildren: Kennedy Nelson, Kristen Nelson, Cameron Barker, Elise Barker, Lila Barker, Ayrika Caldwell, Anna Caldwell, Madilyn Denson, Destini Starr and Dion Rose and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
