James "Nute" Daniels Obituary

James Howard Daniels, also known as Nute, Uncle Nute, was born on December 3, 1925 to the late Samuel Willie Daniels and Buna Mae Daniels in Elba, Alabama. James grew up and attended school in Shady Grove. James was raised on a farm.
James relocated to North Carolina where he was joined in marriage to the late Lillie Mae Johnson. From that marriage two children were born; Willie and Barbara. In 1958 James relocated to Elba, AL  sometime thereafter he was united in love to Johnnie Mae Stoudmire. James was employed by the City of Elba Water & Electric Department as a Line-man Helper.  After many years of service he retired in 1988.
Watching sports was James' favorite pastime and passion. He was an avid sports fanatic.  He really enjoyed watching all sports but baseball and football were his favorites.  When it came to the Elba Tigers, he was front and center cheering them on.  James also enjoyed a good game of checkers and dominos.
James grandfather, Reverend Elijah H. Daniels, was the founder of Shady Grove A.M.E. Church of which James served as a Steward and being the oldest male member, he was the Father of the church.  James was a Godly man and a faithful servant of the Lord.  He lived his life being kind and compassionate towards others, giving of himself selflessly to help others, human and animals alike.  James was an angel in our mist.
On May 23, 2018, James was called home to be with the Lord.
