James Russell

James Odell Russell was born September 15, 1946 in Enterprise, AL to the parents of Mildren Irene Green and James Garfield Russell. He attended Coppenville High School and later moved to Newark New Jersey were he furthered his education at Rutgers University and studied chemistry. He also received his certificate in HVAC and Boiling. 

James had multiple businesses which included a restaurant, beauty salon, record company and manufacturing and packaging. He later worked at Compoundare INC for over 40 years, where he became the president of the company. He was a pillar in the community by donating to many different charities, such as the police association, boxing club for youth boys and many others. He provided for the people in the community and families. James later established Garfield and Russell Company in the early 2000’s. He accepted Christ and was a role model for many people. He fostered four boys with his wife Shirley C. 

James was wed in Holy Matrimony on July 19, 1969 to Shirley Carter. He is survived by his wife Shirley Carter,; siblings: Mary R. Belin, Annette Amos (Lanis), Bobbie Greenwood (Allen) ,Sara Russell, Tommie Russell (Lisa); sisters and brothers in law: Sarah (Ed) Hill, Judith Nelson, Yvonne (Bill) Barnette, Deborah (Bill) Jones, Tracy (Charlie) Johnson, Latonia Carter, Xavier, Taylor Andrew; special daughters: Patricia, Eva, Lynn, Samellor Brittany, Belinda, Trina, Tammy, Trinity, Jessica host of special friends: Ken Roger, Dewey Rogers, Mayor Cooper, Keith Odam, Mrs. Odom, Dawn, Scarlette, Robert, Carol, Steve, Tommie, Tony, Beaver, Rodney, Terry, Billy, Mary, and Glenda, Tate, Jacque, Bernard, and Darryl; and special sons: Audwin, and Teddy.
