James Dozier

Sergeant James Anthony Dozier “Ant” was born on February 4, 1965 to the late Mr. James Earl Dozier and Mrs. Alice Juanita Dozier in Opp, Alabama. Anthony found Christ at an early age by attending Piney Grove Baptist Church. “Ant” and his siblings had their own gospel quartet known affectionately as the “Dozier Children.” Of course “Ant” was the lead singer. Anthony grew up attending Opp City Schools where he found his niche as a Bobcat on the basketball court and football field. He excelled at both sports and has numerous trophies and awards as proof. After graduating from Opp High School in 1984, he attended Alabama State University earning a bachelor degree in Recreation Management. 
He was united in holy matrimony to Deborah Joyce Lynn. Two children were born of this union. Also, in 1994, he began his career in law enforcement by working for the city of Opp police Dept for two years. In 1996, he went on to serve for the city of Elba Police Dept. In January 2009, he began working for the Coffee County Sheriff’s Dept. where he remained until God called him home. Throughout his life and career, he brought charm, humor, compassion, encouragement and joy to those he encountered. You could always count on Dozier for a laugh and a hug. His smile and heart would light up the darkest room.
 Sergeant Dozier was preceded in death by his father, Mr. James Earl Dozier, both paternal and maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
 Left to cherish his memories are: Mother, Alice Juanita Dozier, Opp, Al. Daughters: Shaerail Thompson , Florala, Al.; Chelsea Dozier, Montgomery, Al.; Keyona Dozier, Daleville, Al.; Son: Anthony Trey Dozier, Enterprise, Al; Grandsons: Kevondrae Thompson and Kendauris Cobb. Brothers: Dewayne Dozier (Francine), Opp, Al and Tramus Dozier, Ellenton, Fl; Sisters: Alicia Kroher (Siegfried), Opp, Al and Necola Dozier, Independence, Ky. A wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
