Deacon Henry J. Rayborn was born in Coffee County, Alabama, on November 19, 1929, and peacefully passed away on July 14, 2024. He embarked on a life journey filled with profound faith and devotion to his Lord and Savior.
Deacon Rayborn was born to Eva Mae McClain. Eva Mae united in marriage to Stacey Rayborn, and they raised two children, Henry and Vinlou. Henry grew up on a farm and was unable to attend school until the crops were gathered. With the desire to read and learn, he read the bible and the newspaper. He became well-read in the scriptures and knowledgeable of the bible.
On July 24, 1949, Henry married the love of his life, Nobie Lee Reynolds. Out of this union came six children: Helen Stacey (deceased), Icylean, Benjamin (Cynthia), Johnny (Chris), Tommy (deceased), and Belinda. Deacon and Mother Rayborn have 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Deacon Rayborn was not just known for his “words of wisdom”, but also for his infectious sense of humor. His laughter was a balm to many, and his stories always brought a smile. Everywhere he went, he would share the goodness, grace, and mercy of Jesus, his favorite song being “My Soul Loves Jesus”.
Deacon Rayborn retired from Dorsey Trailers after 32 years of working in the paint shop. Deacon Rayborn was well known for his open-pit barbeque and homemade barbeque sauce.
Deacon and Mother Rayborn have been blessed with many friends. Deacon Montgomery (Mary) has driven from Daleville to Elba to mow the Rayborn’s yard for several years. Family friends, Chris Parker and Mother Lois Harris, have come and helped the Rayborn family during his declining health. The Rayborn family, in their humility, is deeply grateful for all of the love and support from their grandchildren, church families, neighbors, and friends all over the community.
