Mother Helen was born on May 18th 1937 and went to Opp school. She worked for years at Mizzell Memorial Hospital, Opp AL Jean factory, and her health allowed transition to be a sitter.
Mother Helen was preceded in death by her parents: Reader and Suzie Gavin husband: Timothy Lamar Thigpen, four brothers: Cleveland Gavin (Nehata), Claurence (Mailene), Clinton (Fannie Mae) and Freddie; sisters: Doris, Ethel and Jean (William).
She joined Elba Zion Church when she moved to Elba, AL at the age of 39. Mother Helen affectionately known as "Bigma" worked faithfully as a true missionary worker checking on the sick members of the church. She was in the choir and gave out birthday and anniversary gifts to family and friends.
She leaves in loving memory her children: Susan (Robert) Langley, Brenda Tolbert( deceased), Joyce Fleming, Freddie (Christy) Gavin, Tina Hill, & Allison Gavin.; 14 Fabulous and sweet hearted grand-kids, 37 Great grandkids & 8 Great, great grandkids. A host of awesome cousins, nephews, nieces, friends, may she rest in peace.
