Eugene L. Goosby, Sr. of Winter Haven, FL passed away on May 22, 2024 at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital in Germantown, Tennessee.
He was born in Elba, Alabama on March 13, 1943 to the late Annie Mae Goosby. He graduated from Elba Colored High School (Elba, Alabama) at the young age of 16. As a youngster, he attended Shiloh A. M. E. Church in Shiloh, AL. As an adult, he was a member of Mt. Zion Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in Lake Wales, FL.
He loved trucking and had a dedication to trucking that created an unparalleled work ethic to which all who knew him can attest.. Also, he was an avid sports fan. He loved Alabama (Roll Tide), the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Golden State Warriors. He instilled the love of education in his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Survivors include: daughters, Sharon Goosby Greenwood (Enterprise, AL), Dr. Cheri Goosby (Wilson, NC); sisters, Annie Lois Betts (Newington, CT), Mary Cook (New York, NY), and Patricia Mack (Raleigh,NC); four
grandchildren, Alex Greenwood (Miomni) (Enterprise, AL), Brandon Greenwood (Enterprise, AL), Tyeisha Robinson (Haines City, FL), and Tyree Robinson (Atlanta, GA); one godchild, Ashleigh Celeste Wilson (Davenport, FL); six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews. He leaves behind fond memories to a host of loved ones.
He was preceded in death by spouse, Ola Mae Flowers Goosby; children
Eugene Lorenzo Goosby, Jr., Keshia Goosby Newton; siblings, Nellie Rowe, Willie David Goosby, Arcola Goosby, and Louia Coe Goosby.
