Emanuell James Cooks was born November 8, 2006 to Jesse and Rosalyn Cooks
and on September 18, 2025, God dispatched His angel to carry him to his
forever home.
Emanuell or “Man/E-Man” as he was lovingly called, attended Elba City Schools
where he received many scholastic and athletic honors. He loved playing all
kinds of sports; basketball, football (his favorite) and he even won a medal in
the Shot Put, his first time participating in Track & Field. He was at 2025 honor
graduate from Elba High School. After graduation he received a full scholarship
to attend Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) in Moorehead, MS. He
played on the Offensive Line for the MDCC Trojans.
As a young child, Man attended Abundant Life Church in Samson, AL. As a
young adult he became a part of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Elba, AL
where he presented scripture readings before service. During his high school
athletic career, he faithfully attend First Assembly of God on Wednesday nights
with many friends from school. He loved scripture and learning about our
Heavenly Father.
He enjoyed hanging out with his friends playing pickle ball, bowling or video
games. Special times together playing board games with the family during
holidays will always be a cherished memory.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory, loving and devoted parents, Rico and
Rosalyn Cooks. His two older siblings, whom he loved and protected, Brosnan
and Laken, his very special niece, Ariah Sani, his maternal grandparents Willie
and Johnnie McBride, and paternal grandmother, Mary Kyles all of Elba. His
aunts Kimberly (Luther) Allen, Panama City, FL; Rita (Martin) Gray, Enterprise,
AL; Mary Cooks Beecham, Montgomery, AL; and LaSalle Cooks, Elba, AL. His
uncles Marcus Cooks, C.J. Cooks and Mario Evans all of Pensacola, FL.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jesse Cooks and an aunt
Vanessa Tyson. His heart of gold extended far beyond his immediate family and
touched the lives of a host of family and friends.
“A gentle giant who was always willing to do anything asked him, often exceeding
anything expected of him. His impact on the team reaches beyond just the playing
surface. He was a leader with outstanding character and a young man with a
promising future. He will truly be missed.”
