Dexter Faulk, Sr. Obituary

In his infinite wisdom and gentle grace, Almighty God reached down from Heaven and whispered ever so quietly to one of his children these words: “Come with me my son for its time to go home” and so it was that Sunday May 14, 2023. God closed the eyes of our beloved.

Dexter was born July 26, 1982 in Homer Louisiana at Homer Memorial Hospital to the late Don Gilmore and Valerie Faulk. At an early age Dex became a member of Mount Zion Freewill Baptist Church of Haynesville Louisiana. As a result of his mother‘s military career the family moved around. Her obligations lead them to Virginia it was there that they planted roots. Dexter was educated in the public school system of Newport he was an all round athlete excelling in football track and field at Woodside High School graduating with the class of 2000. Dex later attended Thomas Nelson Community College obtaining an associates degree. He was a hard worker avid sports fan in a all around family guy. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Don Gilmore and Valerie Faulk  Smiley; his maternal grandfather: Earuin Faulk; paternal grandparents: David and Norma Harris; aunt Trinia Faulk. 

He leaves to cherish fond memories: his son Dexter Jr. and his mother Vanessa Bonelli; grandparents: Elroy and Lillie Levingston; bonus mom Virginia (‘Ms V”) Silva; bonus dad William Gilchrist; three sisters: Clemitra Smley, Tamika Henderson (Carlos) Shari Faulk; one brother: Darnell Mitchell; Six aunts: Sharon Faulk, Theresa Henderson (Theodis) Yolanda Harris-Davis (Felix) Tamra Smith (Odis), Doris Mitchell (Don), Jamie Foster (Terrance); nine uncles: Marcus Levingston (Shameka), Shannon Harrris (Rachel), Michael Harris (Cynthia) Ronnie Wise, DeNicholas Harris (Trishna), George Jones, Ralpheal Harris (Tytiana), Terry Wise and Christopher Harris; five great aunts Mable Jean Pierce, Mary Martin, Gladys Nance, Betty Harris, and Darlena Jones; one great uncle: Edward Harris (Georgia) a former wife Cindy Ferguson and step daughter Imani Ferguson; two best friends more like brothers: Turi Lipkins and Steven Dixon, with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Also an extended family in Newport News, VA.
