Delarie was born on June 18, 1953, in Butler County, Alabama to the late Henry Lee and Floree Parmer. He was a member of St. Luke A.M.E Zion Church and a Masonic lodge, graduate of McKenzie High School, and graduate of Alabama A&M University– where he played trumpet in the Marching Maroon and White Band and joined Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He went on to work as DPW Natural Resources Branch Chief at Fort Rucker and retired after 38 years of dedicated service in December 2011. He is preceded in death by his siblings Willie Henry Grays, Harvey Parmer Sr, Etharine Broomfield, Loretta Fleming, and Dr. Edward Lawrence Parmer. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife: Katrina Parmer; children: Lawanda, Allec, and Amber Parmer; grandchildren: Eli, Luke, and Caden Parmer; siblings: Gloria (Joseph Ellington III) and Margaret Parmer; in-laws: Bettye Welch, Ethel Jefferson, Gracie (Reginald Slaughter), Freddie Reasor, Berna (John Hammond), Z.I. Fleming Jr, Clarence (Norma) Broomfield, and a host of other relatives and friends.
