The life of Debra Jane Jones began on April 21, 1956, in Enterprise, Alabama to the late Louie Frank and Annie Ruth Jones. She was the youngest of three daughters. Debra received her education in the Enterprise City School System, graduating in 1974, She matriculated at Alabama State University, graduating in 1978 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. On September 26, 1979, she was hired at the Coffee County Revenue Commission Office where she was a dedicated employee until her untimely demise. Debra’s dedication to her employment was exemplary.
Debra joined Johns Chapel AME Church at an early age and recently recommitted herself to service. In church, she worked very diligently in any capacity that was asked of her, and she was always ready and willing to serve. She was a member of the Johns Chapel Allie Lee Clark Sconiers Women’s Missionary Society and the GED Committee.
Debra was industrious, having worked two full time jobs for 20 years. She retired from Walmart in 2002. She had a heart of gold, her kindness and generosity allowed her to go above and beyond to help family, and friends. Her spirit of giving, touched the lives of many, even strangers she met for the first time.
Civilly, she was a member of Kappa Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Pilot Club of Enterprise, and Club Yesepoch. Debra was a lover of life, a phenomenal mother, an amazing grandmother, loving sister, aunt and friend. Debra had a gift of spreading joy and laughter to those who found themselves in her company.
Debra departed this worldly life on Monday, October 16, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents Louie Frank and Annie Ruth Jones, one niece, Valerie J. Hall and several aunts and uncles.
Cherishing the sweet memories of her life and legacy are, two loving daughters, Shayla Nichelle Haynes and Kalandra LaChelle Haynes of Montgomery, AL; one granddaughter who is the “Apple of her Eye” Kalycia Nichelle Haynes of Mobile, AL; one adopted granddaughter, Kaleigh-Rae Moss; two sisters, Annie Jean Bell Gibson and Brenda Joyce Stackhouse (Willie) of Enterprise, AL ; two nieces, Evelyn and Eura Mae Gibson both of Enterprise, AL; two nephews, Jeffrey Gibson of Enterprise, AL and Timothy Jones (Melissa) of Loxley, AL ; one Godson Sheldon Gibson of Enterprise, AL, and a host of great and great-great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
