On the evening of October 13, 2020, Deacon Willie Lee Holloway earned his heavenly wings and took flight to be with his divine Father at the age of 74. He passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama.
Born on September 30, 1946 in Enterprise, Alabama, Deacon Holloway was the second child born to the union of the late Mr. Eddie Lee and Mrs. Annie Ruth Holloway. He attended Coppinville High School in Enterprise, Alabama. At an early age, Deacon Holloway confessed Christ as his Savior and became a member of Pleasant Shade Baptist Church in Enterprise, Alabama. He later joined Daleville Christian Fellowship, where he remained a faithful member until his death. His desire to serve God was exemplified in his role as an ordained deacon under Archbishop Carl McComb’s pastoral leadership.
Deacon Holloway wed in holy matrimony the love of his life, the former Glenda Ann Turner, on September 30, 1972. They soon established their homestead in Enterprise. This union was blessed with six children. He was a man of few words, but he often spoke of the genuine love and adoration that he had for his wife, children, and grandchildren. To him, family was everything!
He was a hardworking, dedicated employee for ConAgra Foods for 30 years before retiring. Thereafter, he remained active as a sports official for various sporting events in the community and across the state of Alabama, including local school districts, Fort Rucker intramural sports, and the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) basketball and football tournaments. An avid lover of Auburn University’s football team, he enjoyed good banter among family members who cheered for opposing teams.
Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Clarence Holloway and Johnny Holloway, Deacon Holloway leaves to cherish his memory a devoted, loving wife, Mrs. Glenda A. Holloway, Enterprise, Alabama; six children, Jeniffa Turner, Enterprise, Alabama; Dedie Burge (Ray), Kennesaw, Georgia; James Turner (Sheryl), Sanford, North Carolina; Samantha Holloway Bryant (Richard), Upatoi, Georgia; Michael Holloway (Sonya), New Brockton, Alabama; and Connie White, Atlanta, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Tessie Turner; Michael Holloway; Derevik McFerrin; DeQuan White; Taya Langley (Reggie); Jordan Burge; Jayla Bryant; Alexis Page; and Corey Holloway; two great-grandchildren, Keighley Woods, Fort Benning, Georgia; and Kobe-Isaiah Holloway, Daleville, Alabama; six siblings, Henry Holloway, Grace Henderson, Annie Cile Holloway, and Mary Jean Kincey, all of Enterprise, Alabama; James Holloway (Patricia), Dothan, Alabama; and Louis Frank Holloway (Kirsten), Colorado Springs, Colorado; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
