Corene Cooper was born on April 30, 1951 to Bud and Susie Mae Rowe in Elba, Alabama. She was the twelfth of the thirteen children born to this union. Her parents and eight siblings, Catherine Rowe, Addie Jenkins, Hubert Rowe, Luenevia Smith, Ollie Martin, Eugene Rowe, Ulysses Rowe, and Pauline Matthews, preceded her in death.
Corene was baptized at an early age and was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. She loved The Lord and was a firm believer in His Word.
She graduated from Elba High School in 1969. The following year, she married the love of her life, James Cooper, on May 1, 1970. She was a loving and devoted wife for 32 years until her husband’s passing in 2002. Two children were born to this union, Sherry Corene and Anthony (Tony) Allen.
She leaves to mourn her passing: two children, Sherry Munir (Jordan) of Madison, AL, and Tony Cooper of Elba, AL; three granddaughters, Brittany Lee of Huntsville, AL, Adriana Hogue (Joseph) of Madison, AL, and Ashley Lee of Madison, AL, three great-grandsons Josiah and Adriel Hogue of Madison, AL, and Jordan Joseph of Huntsville, AL; four sisters, Nell Warren of Madison, AL, Jeannette Holmes of Cleveland, OH, Annette Adams of Decatur, GA, and her twin Lorene Stelly of Elba, AL; special friends Linda Hall of Troy, AL and Sandra McWaters of Pinckard, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
