Charlie Walter Merritt was born on May 7, 1948 in Pike County Alabama, to James David Merritt, Sr., and Mable Seymore Merritt. Charlie was a faithful member of Beth-El Faith Church where he served in many capacities to include Deacon Board Chairman. Those who will cherish loving and fond memories of Charlie include: a devoted wife of 51 years, Mary Merritt; a loving daughter, Charlotte Merritt; sister, Patricia Madison; brother, Varnor (Annie) Merritt; sister-in-law, Juanita Merritt; uncle, James Seymore; aunts, Mildred Christion and Ethel Shaver; in-laws: Walter (Doris) Franklin, Doristine Sankey, Raymond (Sarah) Franklin, Ronnie (Brendolyn) Franklin, Patricia Wright, Clinton (Melanie) Franklin, Kimberly (Bryant) White; and a hosts of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mable Merritt; brother, James Merritt, Jr.; and sister, Brunese Rudolph.
He transitioned to heaven on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
