Charles Elvis Edwards Sr. was born on January 24, 1967, to the late Bishop and Mittie B. Edwards. Charles was a very kind, generous, loving yet different & firm man. He was a member of Oak Grove MBC of Elba and a faithful honorary member of Antioch MBC of Straughn, which both played a very important role in his journey to Salvation. Charles accepted Christ as his personal Savior and really enjoyed attending Bible discussions and supporting his brother in the ministry. Charles was a 1985 graduate of Kinston High School, 1990 graduate of LBW, and also Troy State University, where he received his BS in 1994 & Masters in 1996. In the last 26 years, He lived with the passion to motivate, educate, and inspire the youth. His love for teaching and coaching not only reached his alma mater but several other schools across South Alabama which included SPMA -Southside Preparatory Magnet Academy and Thurgood Marshall Middle School, Evergreen Alabama where he truly loved the students and staff, because they were "Family". Charles truly believed that "Education is the Key" to success. Charles also served in the U. S. Army for many years, which included a tour during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Beside of caring for his kids, teaching, and coaching, he also enjoyed raising his cattle, spending time talking with his nephews, attending church, and being with Ms. Regina. He is proceeded with death by his father and mother: Bishop and Mittie B Edwards, four brothers: Ed Kellum, Larry O Edwards, William "Buck" Edwards, and Robert Edwards. one God brother: Bennett Echol, three sisters Carrie "Polly" Austin, Willie Merle " Weeda" Edwards, Mittie Jewel "Sister" Edwards. Those left to cherish his fond memories are his three children whom he loved very dearly: Charles Elvis Edwards Jr. (C.J) ,Charlesia Edwards both of Opp,AL and Terrien Edwards of Midland City, AL His Beloved girlfriend Regina King of Opp, AL One Godson, La'Gregory Palmer of Goshen, AL. bonus children LeAnn Reynolds of Memphis, TN and Raheem Newson of Ozark, AL. seven brothers: James (Pasty Nell), Bishop both of Rochester NY, Johnny C (Gracie), Willie Joe both of Opp,Al, Joseph and Carlton both of Georgina, AL and Steve of Andalusia AL. three sisters: Peggy, Julia (Gary) Crittenden both of Opp,Al and Susan Marshall of Waynesville, MO. two sisters-in-law Jeanette and Jewel, his best friend, Jimmy Wilkerson of Auburn, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
