Bobby Matthews was born on 21 July 1962 in Opp, AL to parents, Mary Alice Matthews and Grady Hobbs (deceased). Bobby Matthews was married to Vera Love Matthews. He attended Opp High School and graduated on May 26, 1981. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church.
Bobby was affectionately known as the woodman, because of his ability to create unique items from various types of wood. He had an infectious smile that captured the hearts of family, friends and strangers. He was such a caring and
generous person. His favorite pastime was being a comedian and protecting his family. Everyone that knew him was aware of his love for toothpicks.
Bobby spent years in Montgomery, AL where he worked as a Woodmaker. He returned to Opp, AL in 2015 where he lived out the rest of his life loving his family. He enjoyed having fun, making people laugh and helping out when and wherever he could. Bobby fought a good fight and was called home on Sunday March 08, 2020.

Jeanette (Eugene) Horstead, Opp, AL, Linda Rolan, Newport News, VA, Denise Matthews, Opp, AL, Pamela Matthews, Dothan, AL. Brother, Derek (Sandra) Matthews, Fayetteville, GA. He leaves five
grandchildren: Kennedee Cobb, Zarriah Hinson, Temarcus Moorer, McKinna Love, Julian Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
