Betty Shephard Obituary

Betty Loyce Shephard entered this world April 27, 1934, in Enterprise, Alabama to the late Will and Vela Tyson Hull. She was the youngest of five children; all who have preceded her in death. Betty accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. There, she was an active member of the Pastor’s Aide Society. Betty particularly enjoyed being a part of Friendship's  “Kitchen Committee”, preparing and serving meals to the members before Wednesday night bible study classes. Betty graduated from the Coffee County Training School and from there, attended Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, AL. After attending college, she returned to Enterprise and began her career at, what is now, Medical Center Enterprise, in the records department. She was a dedicated and loved employee until her retirement. In 1974, Betty met Johnnie B. Shephard. It must have been love at first sight because, a short year later, Johnnie made Betty his wife. They made a beautiful  life together and in August of this year, would have celebrated 45 years of marriage. Betty was also very active in her community. She was a member of the Eastern Star until her health began to fail. She was an active member of the Yesepoch Club, where she once held the position as the Club’s president. As a member of the Coffee County Training alumni, she served as the financial secretary for many years. On March 14, 2021, Betty left this world to be in the care of her Lord and Savior. She leaves to mourn her memory, her loving husband , Johnnie . Two beautiful daughters, Renee (Ray) Williams of Huntsville, AL; Sherry (Radford E. ) Sterling of Chicago (Hazelcrest), IL; Johnnie B. Shephard III, Felicia Shephard, and Brenda Shephard, all of Winter Haven, FL. Betty is also survived by her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, who will dearly miss her and cherish her memory. Special thanks and appreciation go to Deborah Williams and James and Evelyn Griffin. They tirelessly checked in on Betty and Johnnie. Also, special thanks to the Day Spring Hospice Care Team. They are God’s angels and our family is forever grateful to all of them for their dedication and love given to them.
