Belinda Weeden

Belinda Delane Gamble Weeden peacefully transitioned to be with our Lord on June 12, 2025. Belinda was born on August 27, 1957, in Covington County. She attended Bethune Junior High School through the 6th grade and Red Level High School from 7th to 12th grade. She went on to continue her education at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College and Troy State University.
After completing her education, she found employment at Fort Rucker as an Administrative Assistant, where she worked for 39 years until her retirement in 2019. Belinda was a bright light to all who crossed her path. She was the life of the party and never met a stranger. To know Belinda was to love her. She had a rare gift—the ability to make anyone feel like family. Her laughter could fill a room, her smile could calm any storm, and her spirit was warm, inviting, and deeply rooted in grace. She was the heart of every celebration and the steady hand that lifted others when they were down. Belinda’s life was a reflection of three pillars that shaped everything she did: Faith, Family, and Friendship.

Faith
Belinda confessed Christ at an early age and became a faithful member of New Pilgrim Baptist Church in River Falls, Alabama, where she remained until adulthood. She later joined The Chapel of Flags at Fort Rucker and also worshipped at the Main Post Chapel, where she was a member of the choir. In 2008, she became a member of Daleville Christian Fellowship in Daleville, AL. There, she served faithfully in the “Ever Ready” Choir and volunteered with Vacation Bible School registration. As her life evolved, so did her walk with God. Her faith was not just something she believed in—it was something she lived, every day, with every breath.

Family
Belinda is the cherished daughter of the late Laymon Gamble II and Glenda Jones Gamble. She was the eldest of four siblings—Gloria, Thomas, and Miranda—and carried the role of big sister with pride and love. She is preceded in death by her father, Laymon, and her beloved sister, Gloria.
In November 1981, she married her sweetheart, Roy Weeden. To this union, two beautiful children were born: Tara Weeden Chuku and Dr. Terrance Weeden. Belinda leaves them to cherish her memory, along with her two wonderful granddaughters, Taliyah and Tiana Chuku, and her son-in-law, Princely Chuku.
Belinda went above and beyond in her role as a mother. After the loss of her beloved husband, Roy, she leaned even more deeply into motherhood. She raised Tara and Terrance with unmatched love and devotion. She was their biggest cheerleader, counselor, protector, and friend. She never missed a moment—she was there for every game, every performance, and every milestone. She served as a Daleville Band chaperone and secretary throughout both of her children’s combined years in the band. Her legacy lives on in the lives they lead and in the love they carry forward.
Friendship
Belinda never met a stranger. She had the gift of making people feel welcome, and her spirit was both kind and inviting. During her 39 years as an Administrative Assistant at Fort Rucker, she met many wonderful people who became lifelong friends. She was affectionately known as “B,” “Ms. B,” or, her favorite, “Queen B.” Whether through church, work, or her everyday life, Belinda befriended many who became like family.
She could light up any room with her humor and inclusive spirit. Belinda brought light, joy, and strength to every life she touched. She was always a supportive friend, and toward the end of her life, she was blessed to have those same wonderful friends by her side, going above and beyond for her.

Though her earthly journey has ended, Belinda’s legacy lives on—in her children, grandchildren, mother, siblings, in-laws, nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and in the countless lives she touched. Her memory will forever bring comfort to those who loved her. Her life was a beautiful testament to what it means to love deeply, give selflessly, and walk in faith.
