Annie Mae McNaughton was born on October 7, 1940 to the late Lemma C. Reese, Jr. and Unia Pearl Frazier Reese. Ann, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was educated in the Coffee County School System in Enterprise, Alabama. She graduated from Coffee County Training High School. Shortly after graduating high school, Ann moved to Boston, Massachusetts seeking employment opportunities. Boston became her new home. Ann’s first job was working as a live in homemaker in the Boston area, however, after one year she decided to pursue other job interest. Ann worked for many years as an Electronic Technician for Honeywell located in Framingham, Massachusetts; and as an Engineering Technician for 35 years at Codex Corporation in Mansfield, Massachusetts until she retired in April, 2000.
Ann was spiritually raised in the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Enterprise, Alabama under the leadership of the late Rev. N. L. Robinson where she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. In Boston, Ann was a faithful member of the Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Dorchester, Massachusetts and served for 49 years under the leadership of the late Rev. George W. O’Neal, Jr.; Rev. Lincoln A. Wright, and the current pastor Rev. Timothy A. Allen. Ann is responsible for her home church in Boston name. During a church meeting, she placed the name “Friendship Baptist Church” in a hat, it was pulled, the members loved it, and Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church was established.
At Greater Friendship, Ann was committed to her learning of the love of God and attended Sunday School religiously every Sunday. She also sang in the choir, served as the church Financial Secretary, President of the Florist Club, served on the Pastor’s Aid Committee, and was faithful to the Women’s Fellowship.
In 2019, Ann moved to Newnan, Georgia. Upon arriving there, she joined the Zion Hill Baptist Church and Rev. Jeremy Head was her pastor.
Ann loved to praise God. She was not ashamed to profess her love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a Christian woman who loved life.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents Lemma C. and Unia Pearl Reese, two brothers Edward and Roy, and a sister Dorothy. Ann departed this life on Monday, September 13, 2021 at the Enterprise Medical Center, Enterprise, Alabama. She leaves to cherish her many memories six sisters: Willie P. Green and Erma J.
