Willie Hazel McSwain was born on September 17, 1938 to the late Johnny McSwain and Mary Elizabeth Foxworth in Pike County, Alabama. Hazel “Sweet Baby” (as her siblings called her) was the third oldest of eight children (seven girls and one boy). Later, when she was a teenager, her family moved to Enterprise, Alabama.
After graduating high school, she moved to New York City. While there, she worked in the Customer Service field and built a nice life for herself. She lived there for many years, and in March of 1980 gave birth to a baby girl and named her Kimberly.
In 1994, she and Kimberly moved back to her hometown of Enterprise, Alabama. Hazel loved the Lord and helping people. She worked many years in the Daleville system as a Food Specialist. After retirement, she chose to do volunteer work with the Enterprise school system. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family as often as possible. Hazel was a joy to everyone that knew her and will be missed by all.
Willie Hazel McSwain is survived by: her daughter, Kimberly Young; five sisters, Minnie-Pearl Mitchell, Rexine McSwain, Mary McSwain, Gail Smith, Pinkie McSwain; her brother, John McSwain; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends who love her
