Lola D Pittman

August 18, 1940 ~ December 12, 2017 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Mother Lola Hazel Dunlap Pittman was born August 18, 1940 to the late Reverend Muncy C. Dunlap Sr. and Mildred Lee Miller Dunlap in Henry County, Al. She is the oldest of ten children, and is preceded in death by one sibling Judence Myhand.  Hazel accepted Christ at a very early age, and united with New Summer Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Baldwin, where  she was a dedicated member. At New Summer Hill, she served faithfully as Mother of the Church , Deaconess, choir, usher, missionary ministry,. Her most proudful moment was a mother of the church. She received her formal education in Pinckard, Al segregated public school system in 1954. Mother Pittman was a member of  the Amber Ladies social club of Enterprise, Alabama were she remained a loyal and dedicated member.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Adell Pittman Sr. in March of 1957. This union was blessed with five children. Deacon Adell Pitman precedes her in death on April 9, 1995.

In 1969 Hazel started her career at the Recreation Center on Fort Rucker, Alabama as a Recreational Aide, and later became the Food Service Nutrient at the Child Development Center (CDC) where she received numerous of awards, and letter of recognition, she retired in 2002 after 33 years of Civilian Service  at Fort Rucker, Alabama.

Mother Pittman was a pillar of the community. As a result of her generous spirt, and out going personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the  flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She was a devoted sibling, mother , grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She loved cooking, sewing, gardening, traveling, carpentry, and reading the bible. Mother Pittman’s health kept her from doing her favorite hobbies, so she found a new hobby of talking on the phone, (she was known as the telephone Queen). She checked in with everyone daily or weekly, and spent countless of hours on her “Hotline Bling”. She quietly departed this life Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Medical Center Enterprise in Enterprise, AL. She is proceeded in death by her daughter Shirley Faye Pittman Connerly and Margaret Mary “Peggy” Pittman.   

She leaves to celebrate her life, and cherish her memories two daughters: Levon Pittman and Mary C. Pittman of Daleville, Al; two sons: Gregory (Mirian) Pittman of Columbus, GA, and Adell Pittman Jr. of  Grand Rapids, MI.

Fifteen Grandchildren: David ( Anita) Key, Karen Key, Jason ( Sonya) Taylor, Dominique (Andrea) Miller, Miranda Pittman, Stephen Pittman, Gregory Pittman, Jessica Pittman, Mykeal Pittman, Brittany Pittman, Jonathan Pittman, Joshua Pittman, Amanda Pittman, Davyon McElhancey, and Kalvyn English.

Seventeen Great– Grandchildren: Tyson, Michael, Daviana, Keyana, Ja’Von, Asthon, Jadan, Carter, Caiden, Za’Riyah, Rylan, Destiny, Ialyn, Bradyn, Za’Khi, DeMoorris, and Brandon.

 Eight Siblings: Six Brothers: Houston, Johnny, James, Ray, Muncy Jr., and Arlater Dunlap. Two sisters: Gladys Neal, and Betty Ann Sumo. Five sister-n-law: Elouise Lewis, Annie Lee, Denise, Egertha, and Michelle Dunlap. One brother –n-law: Willie Hatten.

Five God Children: Vernice Jones, Anita and Amelia Dickson, and Kimberly and Jermaine Henderson.

Special friends: Ossie Dickson, Sarah Henderson, Isaac Durham, William and Bernice Gillard, Jim Henderson, Amanda Ferguson, Shirley Jackson, Betty Jones, and Blondale Johnson Polly Magwood; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
