Sister Josephine Peoples was born November 18, 1946 to the late Massey and Alice “Nellie” Rowe in Elba, AL
She is predeceased by her parents and sister; Annie Jo Davis.
She graduated from Mulberry Heights. In 1973 she married William Thomas “Booker” Peoples and later moved to Gainesville, FL.
Josephine joined Johns Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she was a very dedicated and faithful member. She was active in the church and community. She had a special love for children and youth. Josephine served faithfully with the youth as a Sunday school teacher and vacation bible school teacher. She was an usher, in choir number one, assistant in the kitchen, a part of the Red Hat Club, Crime watch, Front Porch and Organize Action Community Program and worked the polls every year. Josephine worked 32 years at Duval Elementary in Gainesville, FL until she retired and moved back home to be with her brothers. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and attended until she fell ill.
Josephine leaves to cherish her love and memories to her loving brother Charlie (Cora) Rowe Shiloh, AL , Larry Rowe Enterprise, AL, and Jerry Rowe Enterprise, AL; Brother in law; Johnny Davis, four aunts; Patricia (Billy) Mack, White Plains, New York, Annie Lois Betts of Hartford CT. Mary Nell (Milton) Cook New York City, Barbara Goosby of Lake Wales, FL; one uncle Eugene Goosby of Winter Haven, FL; three nieces, five nephews, and three great nieces, six great nephews, special niece and nephew Hope and Gerald James Enterprise, AL, four special cousins; Jamesie Rivers, Joyce, Beverley, and Gwen one god sister Angie of Gainesville, FL, three godsons; Dj, KK, and Tharon Robinson Gainesville, FL and special friends Brenda Jackson and neighbor Kim Howard and special nurses; Tenisha, Roxanne and Shelia of Kindred Hospice Care and a host of cousins and special friends.
