John Gilbert

John Larry Gilbert most affectionately known as “Popcorn” was born on January 25, 1956, to Hazel Parker in Syracuse, New York. Popcorn was well known for his humor, his kind disposition, and his love of family and friends.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those he knew and loved.  He was well-known throughout Elba and many surrounding cities and counties

John is preceded in death by his mother and sister Melanie.

John Larry was born the oldest of 13 children.  He leaves behind seven brothers: Willie, Ronnie, Joseph, Billy, Scotty, Christ, and Gary; two beautiful sisters: Clara, and Joyce.  Popcorn also leaves to mourn Carol Gilbert, wife and life long friend. Three loving adult children and one step-daughter: Lyntressa Grant and family: (Mauryssa, Malysha, and Marvin. One great-grandchild, Uriah Jr.  Jonathan Gilbert, (Danielle Hardwick (Shunelle Harley) Kashundra Hardwick (Kaia, Kaidence, Kaiden.
