Mrs. Jimmie Lee Newby, daughter of the late Alvin Newby and Lorna Corbit was born March 15, 1943 in Abbeville, Alabama. She was second child to her parents. Jimmie received her education at Coppinville High School of Enterprise, Alabama where she graduated in 1961.

             She was united in holy matrimony to Wayne “Willie” Russell in Enterprise, Alabama. Willie preceded her in death on April 2001. Ms. Russell was a faithful believer in God and joined St. Beulah Missionary Baptist Church where she attended every Sunday until falling ill in October 2016.

Mrs. Russell was rewarded her eternal rest on July 11, 2017. Her final hours were spent surrounded with love as God called her home. She was well respected and loved by many throughout the Wiregrass area and best known for her joyful laugh and her southern home cooking.

Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of those who loved her. Her devoted companion and friend Benny Knight; her children Theresa (James) Barnette, Paula Brooks Wilson, Roderick Brooks (deceased), Lynn Russell and Tony Russell; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sister Robbie DuBose; brothers Clarence Newby (deceased), Joseph Lampkin and James Lampkin; uncles Fredrick Newby, Carl Jr. (Juanita) Newby; favorite cousin Freddie Jean Newby; special friend Ms. Cozzie Lenori and a host of other family and friends.
