Jessie Lue Houston, the eldest of twelve children born to the late Jessie James Cooks, Sr. and the late Eula Barr Cooks on March 5, 1941.
She was a faithful member at Trinity Christian Fellowship Center in Sarasota, FL. Jessie was also a member of the Holy Band Prayer Team. This team traveled from state to state praying for people to be healed and saved.
On Saturday September 21, 2019 Jessie made her transition while surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; James Houston, brother John P. Cooks, and sister Ruby Lee Cooks Wynn.
Jessie leaves to cherish her memories: two children; Jerome (Nita) Houston, and Merilyn Houston, of Sarasota FL, grandchildren; Jermisha Kinder, Jasmine Jordan Houston and Jamille Brown all of Sarasota, FL, one great-granddaughter, brothers; Jessie James Cooks, Jr. of Pensacola, FL, Willie D. Cooks, of Troy, AL, Charlie L. Cooks of Elba, AL and Jimmy D. Cooks of Montgomery, AL, sisters; Ocie Phillips of Elba, AL, Myrtle S. Elliard, Mary (James) Starks of Troy, AL, Pearlee M. Partlow of Montgomery, AL, and Voncile (Danny) of Kileen, TX, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church members, and friends.
