The late Charlie “Bug” Tillis, Jr. was the youngest child born to the parentage of Charlie Tillis & Pearlie Tillis in (Friendship), Covington County, Alabama.
At an early age Charlie joined Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his demise.
He enjoyed life and lived it to its fullest. He was a man full of knowledge and skills. Charlie was a loving, kind and compassionate person. He was always a hard-working man from childhood. He was a great provider for his family. He worked with others and shared his experiences with anyone who asked. He always talked about times he would interview for jobs and when asked, “What can you do for the company?”, he would say, “What do you want me to do?” He said there was nothing he couldn’t do when it comes to work. He always wanted to be the “boss.” During his life time he held several jobs, just to name a few; furniture delivery, maintenance over Opp Housing Authority, Opp Micolas Cotton Mill and the one he enjoyed most, having his own “Logging Business.” Also, he really loved farming. He raised hogs and cows and always planted gardens to provide for his family and the community. He just enjoyed helping people and giving them advice.
Charlie peacefully departed this life on September 10, 2019 at Andalusia Regional Hospital in Andalusia, AL. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie & Pearlie Tillis, one sister, Gussie Adams, three brothers, Rufus, Bufus and Rubert Tillis, one daughter-in-law, Evelyn Tillis.
