Mrs. Catherine “Momma Cat” Daniels Waters was born April 9, 1921 to John and Odessa Daniels. Her mother Odessa passed away when Catherine was young. She was raised by her stepmother Rosie Daniels. Catherine joined Shady Grove AME church at an early age. She was a decedent of the founder of Shady Grove AME, Rev. Elishia H. Daniels. Catherine was a Missionary President until her passing. She united in marriage to John Henry Waters on August 29, 1936; to this union nine children were born.
Catherine was a beautiful person and was loved by many. She left a long lasting impression on everyone that knew her. She was a hard working wife, mother and grandmother. She was a devoted Foster Grandparent to several in the community.
A beautiful and fruitful life came to a silent end on February 22, 2018 at her home in Elba, Alabama. Proceeding her in death is her husband; John Henry Waters, sons; Leroy, Raymond, Henry Waters and her daughter; Jimmie Lou Waters.
She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters; Lucille Hammonds, Mary Waters, and Louise Harris (Vernon) all of Elba. two sons; Skeeter Waters (Polly) of Fort Walton Beach Florida and James Waters of Elba, Alabama, two brothers; Charlie and Wallace Daniels both of Elba, Alabama, two sisters ; Gladys (Ike) Harris of Florida, Rushia Bell Cole of Elba, 51 grandchildren, 100 great grand children, 78 great great grandchildren, 2 great great great grand child, adopted son and daughter Rev. Freddie and Annie Flowers, a special daughter; Samantha Morris, and host of nieces nephews and close friends.
