Bennie C. Council "Pete" Obituary

Bennie C. Council, Jr., affectionately known as “Pete”, was born on May 12, 1943, to Bennie and Beatrice Council, in Pinckard, Alabama.  Pete entered into eternal rest while home, on January 30, 2019 at 11:05 a.m., surrounded by his loving family.

Pete attended school in the Enterprise School System.  He was employed by Wiregrass Body and Frame Inc., where he retired after 25 years of service. Pete was an avid fisherman in his earlier years of life.  He enjoyed attending his gardens during his later years.  He was known for his keen sense of humor. Although he was not a church going person he had a heart of gold.  He knew the importance of prayer.  He made a priority of kneeling and praying each night before bedtime; as was taught to him by his parents.  He was not a pretender.  “What you saw was what you got!” Pete lived a life of simplicity.  He met the love of his life, Wanda, in 2009.  They were later married and she introduced him to some of the finer things in life.  Pete became a sharp dresser!  Due to his inclination for simple things, he was extremely ecstatic to receive a brand new bedroom suite for his 68th birthday.  He loved Wanda and all of his family.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents (Bennie & Beatrice Council),   daughter and son (Sonya Council and Printess McCray), a sister (Jessie Smith), and a brother (Henry Council).

He leaves to both mourn and cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife, Wanda Council; 2 sons - David (Kysha) Council, Centreville, AL; Ronnie (Andria) McCray, Enterprise, AL; 2 daughters - Yolanda (Shadonvan) Richardson, Hinesville, Ga; LaKristia McCray, Enterprise, AL; 4 brothers – Robert Lee (Eunice) Council, Jimmie (Earnestine) Council, Odell (Barbara) Council, all of Enterprise, AL; Charlie (Katie) Council, Rochester, NY; 3 sisters – Ann (General) Dickerson, Mary Brooks, and Verdell Mullins, all of Enterprise, AL; 23 Grandchildren; 8 Great-Grandchildren; a loving and caring Nephew and wife, Earl and Verna Scott; devoted Cousin, Will Jones; devoted Friend, John Andrew “JJ”; Special care-giver, Renee Sowell; and a host of  other Nieces, Nephews, Relatives and Friends.
