Welcome to the memorial page for

Acie Mae McKenzie

July 13, 1928 ~ December 14, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Sister Acie Mae Mckenzie was the baby of three daughters born July 13, 1928 to the late James Henry Griffin and Mary Francis Andrews Griffin Pruitt in Coffee County, Alabama. Her parents and Stepfather Albert (Boot) Pruitt (who raised her) and two sisters Lorene Brown and Agnes Page preceded her in death.

On Thursday, December 14, 2017 in the early morning hour the Lord in his infinite wisdom decided that Acies’ mission here on earth was completed and called her home to rest.

She became the mother of a beautiful baby girl and named her Jannie. Acie married Junior Cain and to this union one daughter was born (Frankie who preceded her in death in 1989). She later married her soulmate, the late David McKenzie and one son was born

At an early age she joined Popular Springs Missionary Baptist Church where she began her work in Christ’s kingdom. She loved her God and church and was a faithful member of the senior choir for many years, Ladies aid society #26 and appointed as deaconess by Rev. Anthony Felton.

She was a dedicated employee over thirty years for the late Mrs. Agnes Herrings and considered it a joy and blessing to be able to love and care for her daughter, Amelia Kay and that special bond of love remained until Acie’s death. She enjoyed going to the senior citizen building in New Brockton before her health failed. Acie was the “Patriarch” of our family. She raised her two young grandchildren without any hesitation as her own after the death of her daughter, Frankie and also became the mother figure to her sisters (Lorene and Agnes) children after their death.

During the months of her illness her faith and trust in God never wavered and  she thanked Him daily for keeping her she never complained and would often say “My God is good”

Her memory will forever be cherished by  her daughter (Jannie Richardson) Chicago, IL, a son James Clarence, J.C., ( Barbara) New Brockton, AL.
